Confidential psychotherapy

A quiet room for the
people who make the work.

Discreet, bespoke therapy for young creative talent across music, film, theatre and publishing — and for the labels, studios, agencies, theatres and publishing houses entrusted with their wellbeing.

The practice

We work with the people who carry the weight of someone else's sudden, public life — and with the artists living inside it.

Aria & Vellum is a small, senior psychotherapy practice serving the creative industries. We see signed and emerging artists, actors, writers, directors, producers, songwriters and the crews, casts and editorial teams who work alongside them — privately, and on terms that respect the unusual shape of a creative life.

We also work directly with record labels, film and television production companies, theatres, talent agencies and publishing houses, offering a confidential channel of care for the young talent in their roster and tailored support for the executives, editors and producers carrying that responsibility.

What we hold

The particular pressures of a creative life.

  • 01

    Sudden fame

The disorientation of becoming a public object — after a breakout role, a debut novel, a first record. Loss of anonymity, parasocial pressure, and the quiet grief of a former self.

  • 02

    Finishing the work

The album that won't close, the second novel, the final cut, the play that opens in three weeks. Perfectionism, deadline paralysis and creative block as symptom, not failing.

  • 03

    Between jobs

Unemployment between cycles — after a tour, a run, a wrap, a book tour. The vertigo of an empty diary, financial fear, and a nervous system still tuned to the stage or the set.

  • 04

    Inside the workplace

Power dynamics on set, in the writers' room, backstage and in the office. Contracts, collaborators, editors and the difficulty of being managed by people who also love you.

  • 05

    Identity & the work

When the art is the self. Protecting an inner life when every song, scene, page, post and interview is asked to monetise it.

  • 06

    Substances & sleep

Tour rhythms, night shoots, opening nights and deadline weeks. Honest, non-judgemental support, integrated with medical care where needed.

Services

A small menu, made personal.

Every engagement begins with a private conversation. Nothing is standardised; everything is built around the person, or the organisation, in front of us.

Individual

Bespoke psychotherapy

Open-ended, in-depth work for artists, actors, writers, directors and creative professionals. In person in central London, or privately by encrypted video — on tour, on location, on deadline.

Enquire

Focused

Creative block intensives

A short, structured course of sessions designed around a specific impasse — an album, a manuscript, a screenplay, a role, a body of work that has stalled.

Enquire

Roster

Care for talent rosters

A confidential, retained channel of therapy made available to the artists, actors and authors on your roster or list, with discreet onboarding and clear governance.

Enquire

Industry

Executive & editorial support

Sessions for the managers, A&Rs, agents, producers, editors and commissioners carrying difficult talent, difficult contracts and difficult news.

Enquire

For labels, studios, theatres, agencies & publishing houses

A duty of care, quietly held.

We partner with a small number of record labels, film and television production companies, theatres, talent agencies and publishing houses who take the mental health of their young artists, actors and authors seriously — and who want a therapeutic relationship that sits entirely outside the commercial one.

  • Absolute confidentiality

No clinical content is ever shared with the engaging company. You receive only the assurance that care is in place.

    01
  • Senior clinicians only

Every artist, actor or author is seen by an experienced psychotherapist. No trainees, no rotating caseloads.

    02
  • Industry-literate

We understand recoupment and release cycles, options and holding deals, principal photography, press tours, opening nights and publication days.

    03
  • Available where the work is

London consulting rooms, encrypted video sessions worldwide, and selected in-person support on tour, on set and on location.

Our approach

Slow, attentive, and entirely your own.

We are integrative psychotherapists — psychoanalytic in sensibility, contemporary in practice. We listen for the shape of a person beneath their public role, and for the creative life that is asking to be protected.

Sessions are weekly, fifty minutes, and held in strict confidence. Engagements with companies are governed by a clear written protocol that places the artist's privacy above all else.

About the founder

A clinician who understands the work.

Aria & Vellum was founded by a senior psychotherapist with twenty years’ experience in the arts, media and mental health. The practice grew out of a simple observation: creative lives need a particular kind of privacy, and a particular kind of care.

“I built this practice so that artists, actors, writers and the people who protect them could find a room where nothing is performed.”

Clinical background

Integrative psychotherapy, psychoanalytic training, and extensive work with performing artists, writers and industry executives under pressure.

Why this work

A lifelong connection to theatre, music and publishing — and a belief that creative people deserve clinical care that speaks their language.
